Registration opens for Court of Master Sommeliers Australian program
The Court of Master Sommeliers was established in 1977 to promote excellence in hotel and restaurant beverage services, and the first Court of Master Sommelier courses were held in Australia in 2008.
Since then more than 1000 Australian students have participated in the examinations resulting in: 620 Introductory Sommelier graduates, 273 Certified Sommelier graduates, 31 Advanced Level Master Sommeliers and five who have attained the title of Master Sommelier: Franck Moreau MS (Merivale), Sebastian Crowther MS (Rockpool Dining Group), Benjamin Hasko MS (Luxury Beverage Group), Adrian Filiuta (Merivale) and Jonathan Ross (The Lucas Group). Worldwide there are currently just 249 Sommeliers who have gained the highly-coveted title of Master Sommelier.
“This is the first time that The Court of Master Sommeliers will be offering Introductory, Certified and Advanced certification within the same twelve-month period in Australia,” said Hasko.
“It’s fantastic to see the high demand for professional certification in Australia with over 1000 students having undertaken CMS certification over the past ten years.”
The 2018 course will take place across Melbourne and Sydney in February and April respectively. Find out more here.
