Proud Sprout Café opens in Fitzroy offering a Nepalese inspired menu
Owners Karishma and Waseem crossed the river to Fitzroy to open their latest venture Proud Sprout Café, bringing with them a love of Nepalese cooking and flavours. The husband and wife team created the menu with a nod to their respective upbringing growing up in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Dishes include The Rikshawwala; spiced cauliflower, potato, fried eggs and roti paratha, a Nepalese Goat Curry with cumin rice or their smoked trout, sweet potato rosti and avocado hollandaise. Take-away lunch boxes are in the mix and a dinner service later in the year.
Coffee is also a fixture, with alternative brews and non-caffeinated drinks, such as turmeric and matcha lattes, on the menu.
