Solotel wins two accolades ahead of Barangaroo House opening
Solotel was recently named Group Hotel Operator of the Year at the annual Australian Hotels Association (AHA) NSW Awards for Excellence, while Henry Hammersla from the group’s The Clock Hotel took out Bartender of the Year.
The accolades couldn’t have come at a better time, with the group set to open its new three-level hospitality venue on December 15.
“We’ve rallied a great team so far, but with such an extensive venue, of course we’re on the lookout for more talented ‘hospos’ to join us,” said Barangaroo House head chef Cory Campbell.
Rooftop bar Smoke is the first of the three levels to be announced ahead of the venue’s opening. Pauric Kennedy will come on board as bar manager at Barangaroo House, bringing more than 14 years’ experience to the role.
“I’m so excited to join the Solotel team to head up the bar at one of their most exciting projects yet,” he said. “The team is second to none and the chance to work with some of the industry’s finest like Matt (Moran), (head chef) Cory (Campbell) and (head sommelier) John Paul (Wilkinson) is an amazing opportunity.”
Joining Kennedy is head sommelier John Paul Wilkinson.
“There’s such an impressive wealth of knowledge and experience within the Solotel stable and as soon as I met Matt and the wider Barangaroo House team, I knew that was something I wanted to be a part of,” said Wilkinson.
