Australia’s best restaurants as reviewed by the public
Muse Restaurant in Pokolbin, New South Wales, took out the number one spot as the best restaurant in the country. Opened in 2009 by husband-and-wife team Troy and Megan Rhoades-Brown, the Hunter Valley restaurant was praised for its focus on fresh local produce and its open kitchen.
Friends Restaurant in Perth took out second place, followed by fermentAsian in Tanunda, South Australia; Watergate Restaurant & Lounge Bar in Port Douglas, Queensland; and Spice Bar in Mooloolaba, Queensland.
Nobu Japanese Restaurant in Perth came in at number six, followed by 1889 Enoteca in Brisbane; Spirit House in Yandina, Queensland; The Stunned Mullet in Port Macquarie, NSW; and Maha in Melbourne.
Travellers’ Choice Award winners were determined by taking into account the quantity and quality of reviews for restaurants around the world, gathered over a 12 month period. This year’s awards recognised nearly 400 fine dining restaurants across the globe.
