Girls and Boys vegan dessert bar inspired by the nostalgia of Mr Whippy vans
Specialising in vegan soft ice cream and gelato, the menu also includes cakes, smoothies, thick shakes, spiced mylks and specialty lattes. In the “pick up” fridge you can grab to go, cold pressed juices, smoothies, tonics, breakfast bowls as well as a daily selection of salads and specials.
Founders Laki Papadopoulos and Mark Price, from Transformer Fitzroy and Vegie Bar have teamed with pastry chef Jackson Magner to build the menu of sweet treats that include gluten free and refined sugar free options.
“There was not much else that induced the same sort of excitement when we were growing up as the sound of the Mr Whippy van coming your way from the next street, or pulling up at the beach,” said Papadopoulos.
“Then the time spent waiting in line and deciding on what to get, a plain ice cream cone, choc top, or the whole hog, double cone choc top with sprinkles, nuts or a flake bar. The name Girls and Boys comes from the innocence and memories of those days. We are hoping that people feel the same way about our vegan offering”.
All of their soft serves are 100 per cent plant based, made with coconut milk and organic brown rice syrup.
