Local Flair, New Flavours: How Two Venues Are Shaping Tarare’s Food and Drink Scene

A Fresh Chapter for Le 307: From Classic Dining to Lively Evenings

Le 307, a bar-restaurant located near the train station in Tarare, has reopened after a week-long renovation with a new co-manager and a reimagined concept. Relaunched on 23 July, the venue now leans into its bar identity during evening hours while maintaining a quality lunch menu prepared by chef Arnaud, who also hopes to bring on an apprentice.

With a goal to create a more casual and social setting, the new team has introduced tapas-style platters, mini-braziers for outdoor dining, and a redesigned terrace featuring high tables, a pergola, and a new lounge area. The venue now includes a pétanque pitch, embracing the spirit of community and relaxation.

Co-manager Edgar, a local who previously worked in the textile industry, teamed up with his rugby teammate Nicolas to take over the space. Together, they plan to introduce themed events and adjust opening hours with the seasons. The official relaunch party is set for Friday, 1 August at 7 p.m.

Cavapapa: Where Wine Meets Passion and Storytelling

Not far from Le 307, Cavapapa has emerged as a distinctive wine bar and restaurant in a restored early 20th-century grocery shop. Founded by Laurent Tisserand, a former engineer turned sommelier, the space blends nostalgia with elegance, featuring wooden shelves, brass details, and wine-themed vintage décor.

Laurent’s journey into wine began eight years ago when a local wine merchant became his mentor. After earning his sommelier qualification from the University of Wine, Laurent opened Cavapapa to share his passion and knowledge. He offers an ever-changing selection of 180 wine labels—totalling around 1,200 bottles—and serves wine by the glass tailored to guests’ preferences.

The menu is guided by seasonal ingredients from local producers and Laurent’s culinary imagination. One standout dish, “La Tomate endiablée”, brings together tomato and chilli in a bold summer entrée.

A New Energy in Tarare’s Culinary Life

Together, Le 307 and Cavapapa represent a dynamic shift in Tarare’s hospitality scene. Whether it’s a relaxed summer evening on Le 307’s terrace or an intimate wine-tasting session at Cavapapa, both venues are redefining local dining and drinking culture with authenticity, passion, and a deep connection to the community.
