Sydney Marathon expands race week with citywide food and tourism offers

The Run Perks programme will connect residents and visitors with hospitality deals from August 24 to 31.

Sydney Marathon is extending its race week beyond the course with a citywide programme of restaurant, pub and tourism offers.

Run Perks will operate from August 24 to August 31, the day after the marathon. Most deals will be open to the public without a race bib or finisher’s medal, although individual venues will set their own booking rules and dates.

The programme will use a location-aware map in the event app to show nearby offers. They include fixed-price menus and discounted attractions, including a 42% reduction on a city attractions pass in a reference to the marathon distance.

The August 30 race has a field of about 40,000 runners after receiving a record 123,000 ballot entries. The New South Wales government expects Sydney’s status as a World Marathon Major to add about A$300 million to the visitor economy over ten years.
